New Website

We have just launched our new responsive website which is easier to use on a mobile phone. Our full calendar is also now completely accessible and shows group sessions, bookings and events. 27th June, 2021.

More Groups Return after Lockdown Easing

More of our user groups are returning following the government's easing of lockdown rules. We are very happy to have already welcomed back the Reading Room Toddlers Group, Energize Dance, S.S. Fitness, Ovingham Parish Council and the Chat Club. 24th May, 2021.

Polling Day - Local Elections

Once again Ovingham Reading Room was used as a polling station, this time for the local and Police and Crime Commissioner elections on 6th May, 2021. Holly Waddell (Labour) became the new local councillor for Bywell whilst Kim McGuinness (Labour) was re-elected as the Northumbria Force Area Police and Crime Commissioner. 6th May, 2021.

Toddler Playgroup Returns

The toddler playgroup returned to the Reading Room today for the first time since lockdown. The group is parent led and runs itself. There are now two sessions - Tues and Fri - 10am to 11.30am. There is now an online booking system due to Covid restrictions. See our groups section. 27th April, 2021.

Main Hall Redecorated

As no one was using the Reading Room last summer, we had the main hall redecorated, the floor revarnished and the curtains renewed. 17th September, 2020.

Social Distanced Committee Meeting

This is the last time the Reading Room Committee met face to face in August 2020. This year we have been meeting regularly by Zoom. 24th August, 2020.
